What is Gym Geek?

Gym Geek is The Smart Calorie Counter That Keeps You on Track. Launched in June 2025, our app has helped over 300,000 people lose, maintain or gain weight.

We also operate the Gym Geek website, helping more than 1 million people a month calculate their calorie deficit and macros with our handy free tools. Our website also hosts expert weight loss guides, exercise guides and workout routines.

1 in 10 of us struggle to lose or maintain weight because of our metabolism. Every person's metabolism is unique, which makes calorie calculators and online weight plans fairly inaccurate for many people.

That's why we built the Gym Geek calorie counter. Unlike other calorie counting apps, Gym Geek adapts to your unique metabolism.

While most calorie counting apps rely on a simple formula to estimate your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE), Gym Geek uses a method called Smart Calorie Adjustments™ to more accurately estimate your TDEE.

Each time you track your weight, Gym Geek uses a statistical model to see whether you are losing weight slower or faster than expected. It then adjusts your TDEE and calorie goal to keep you on track.

You can use Gym Geek to scan barcodes, search items from our 3.8 million item food database or quick track your calories and macros in a single tap.
